Why is dodging slow to respond in The Witcher 3 Remastered, and has it been fixed?

Updated Patch Remastered (5.01)
  • PC
  • PS5
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • Switch 2

Quick fix

Yes: update to patch 5.01. CD Projekt's notes for it list a fix for dodging that could have an unintentionally delayed response, and another for Geralt's Stamina fully draining when you sprint and dodge at the same time. The patch is out on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and rolling out on Switch 2.

Why it happens

CD Projekt lists it as a bug fixed in patch 5.01. Its notes describe dodging that could have “an unintentionally delayed response.” The notes give that fix one line, with no cause and no timing figures.

The same notes also fix a second dodge problem. Geralt’s Stamina could be fully drained when you sprinted and dodged at the same time.

Fixes

Fix 1: Update to patch 5.01 (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S)

Update the game to patch 5.01. CD Projekt’s 5.01 post says the patch is out on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, where it names Steam, GOG, the Epic Games Store, Battle.net and Xbox Play Anywhere. Its Steam post for the patch, titled “Patch 5.01 is live!”, is dated 8 October 2026.

Both fixes are in those notes: the delayed dodge response and the full Stamina drain when you sprint and dodge at the same time.

Fix 2: Update to patch 5.01 (Switch 2)

CD Projekt’s Switch 2 notes for patch 5.01 list the same dodge fix and the same Stamina fix. CD Projekt says the patch is rolling out on Switch 2, with the Japanese version coming once it clears certification. Nintendo Life, in an article dated 19 October 2026, reports that the rollout started in most regions that day.

If nothing works

CD Projekt lists both the dodge fix and the Stamina fix in patch 5.01, so first make sure your game has updated to it.

If you play the Japanese version on Switch 2, CD Projekt’s Switch 2 post says that version gets patch 5.01 once it clears certification. Until it arrives, your game may not have the dodge fix yet.
